Methodology
How reported compensation is organized on CompensationBase.
Compensation figures are taken from the Summary Compensation Table in each company's latest definitive proxy statement (DEF 14A) or information statement (DEF 14C). The headline total is the SCT Total as filed, not a recomputed sum of the columns we display.
Displayed components typically include salary, bonus, stock awards, option awards, non-equity incentive compensation, and all other compensation. We do not parse the change in pension value and nonqualified deferred compensation earnings column. That amount can be included in the SCT Total even when it does not appear in the component bars.
Prior-year figures on a company or executive page come from the three-year SCT in that latest filing, not from separate historical proxies. Titles are as of that filing.
Rankings use the reported SCT Total among ingested S&P 500 named executive officers. When equity is at least 80% of the total and at least three times the prior year, we note the equity share and the multiple versus that prior year. We do not annualize multi-year grants.
Company revenue and assets, when shown, come from SEC Company Facts (latest annual 10-K values) and are provided for scale, not as a pay-for-performance ratio.
